Tail salvage experts recovered an engine, landing gear and flight data recorder from an AirACT cargo plane that skidded off the runway at Hong Kong International Airport last Sunday, airport officials said.
The Hong Kong Air Accidents Investigation Branch is investigating the incident with the assistance of the US National Transportation Safety Board.
Authorities are using two barges to collect alongside the northern runway. The airport authority said in a statement that the rescue team conducted an underwater sonar survey before sending divers into the water to find parts of the plane.
Flight operations have remained normal following the accident, which occurred when a Boeing 747-400 freighter under contract to Emirates lost control and skidded off the runway and into the sea. The plane hit a security vehicle patrolling a nearby road. Two occupants of the car were killed when the car hit the sea. The crew escaped unharmed.
The northbound carriageway was temporarily closed while barges carrying large cranes carried out the work.
AirACT is based in Türkiye.
