According to a press release Thursday, Mario Cordro, CEO of Port Long Beach, will retire at the end of 2025.

Port Long Beach, Mario Cordro.
With respect from the port of Long Beach
Over the course of more than eight years, Cordero helped move to the port through the Coveid-19 epidemic, the trade union strike, sustainable efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and renovate operations in the port through the supply chain information highway.
“He has guided one of the busiest ports in the world in an unprecedented era with sustainable vision and leadership and always keeps people and society in the center,” said Rex Richardson, the mayor of Long Beach.
The longtime maritime industry leader served as head of the Federal Maritime Commission from 2013 to 2017 and spent eight years on the board of directors of the port of Lang Beach. Both roles deepened his understanding of the ocean carrier, the terminal operator, the cargo owners and the business partner’s needs.
At the time of the port commission, Cordro helped promote the Green Bandar Port policy, which was approved in 2005. The policy aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the port operations, and initiatives to reduce the release of dry trucks, reduce ship speeds and increase the use of green green transport equipment.
Cordero also enforced the law for more than 30 years, where he specialized in workers’ compensation cases.
“While I lose the presence of the International Trade Center, I know that I put the port in the hands of our very powerful board of directors and exemplary staff,” Cordro said.
In the coming months, the board of directors of the port committees will work to determine the process to replace Cordero.
