Container freight rates in the main east-west trade continued to move slightly higher for a second week, boosted by a mid-month rate hike and reduced capacity due to empty ships.
According to Drewry, the number of empty seagoing vessels rose to 93 in October in the Pacific, Asia-Europe and Trans-Atlantic trades, up from 58 in September, leading to an overall capacity decline of 7 percent.
