Chattanooga, Tenn – Co.lab Lab (CO.Lab) recently announced that it is looking for its next group of companies to become part of its sustainable mobility accelerator program.
The program runs for six weeks during which participants work in the market, focusing on customer purchase strategies and experimental implementation. While permanent relocation to Chattanooga is not required, several past participants have opened an operation in the city after the program is completed.
Co.lab CEO Tasia Malakasis talked to Freightwaves about the company’s 16 -year -old date of helping startups through its unique accelerator program.
The accelerator, part of the 16 -year history of Co.lab in support of entrepreneurship, is now specifically focused on motivation innovation, and crossing its highways through the unique Chattanooga transportation ecosystem, which is estimated at 85 % of the country’s goods.
“About three years ago, we decided to focus on what we strongly believe is a competitive advantage for the area,” Malaktacisis told Freightwaves. “The way we define sustainable mobility is the future movement of people, commodities, energy and data.”
What distinguishes the company from traditional accelerators is the approach to adapting its companies. “The distinction of this program depends on the fact that we do not accept a team to our program unless we can match them with a company partner for potential pilot or first -rate customer opportunities,” Malakasi explained.
“The difference is that we turn you into a market and help you on a scale, which means we create those customer relationships and take you here for the pilot,” Malakazaz added. So, this is a very different pattern, and I think this is one of the most distinct and very supportive items for a startup. “
Chattanooga is known as “Silicon Valley of Breight”, presented by the founder of the Steve Casey Revolution, part of which is due to the unique focus of transportation, technology and supply chain companies.
According to a study conducted by Cambridge Systematics, the city is among all metropolitan cities among all metropolitan cities. Through this “alley alley”, it is estimated that more than 80 % of our total shipping travel through Chattanooga due to part of the convergence of the three Interstates-I-75, I-24 and I-59.
For Co.lab, this concentration of industry expertise and transportation has created a fertility background for mobility startups following communicating with stationed companies. Another benefit of the intersection of energy infrastructure and remote communication through the Tennessee Valley and EPB is the Chattanooga Electricity Board.
Through EPB’s EPB network, the city is located on the country’s first commercial quantum network. These infrastructure hosts the largest urban platform in the country for connected vehicles infrastructure, with 120 intelligent intersections expand throughout the city. These intersections contain advanced technology tested through research initiatives at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
The final vision of the company. Creating Chattanooga as one of the top destinations for mobility innovation in the United States.
For this latest group, Co.lab is looking to launch with stretch (post -income pilots) in these special areas:
- Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV)
- Supply chain, logistics and transportation technology
- Smart Infrastructure and Smart Traffic Systems
- EV, charging, technology battery and network optimization
- Artificial Intelligence/IoT for mobility and urban infrastructure
- Micro and mobility-as a service (MAAS)
- Mobility data and predictor analysis
