
The freight flow remained stable in the Houston and New Orleans ports, but slowed down in Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi in July.
The port of Houston sees strong container achievements
In July, Houston ported 392.829 units equivalent to twenty feet (TEUS), which increased by 21 % compared to the same month in 2024.
Container imports in total 210.933 TEU, 24 % compared to last year, while uploaded exports of 19 % to 187,367 TEU increased. Port officials noted that exports, mainly driven by resins, have grown steadily throughout the year.
During the first seven months of 2025, the port of Houston moved 2.56 million TEUS, up 6 % compared to last year.
“July volume performance reflects our port’s commitment to provide a low -cost gateway, high and low -risk services, indicating that our customers trust us in this unknown,” said Charlie Jenkins, CEO of Port Houston.
The volume of public freight has increased by 10 % up to date in the public terminals of the port. Steel imports increased by 41 % in July and reached 520309 shortly and have grown by 8 % so far and overall 2.7 million tonnes. Generally, tonnage in public facilities has reached 32.6 million tonnes by July, up 6 % since 2024.
Ship calls increased to 684 in July compared to July, while barge calls increased to 355.
New Orleans Port Grows in the fracture cargoes
The Port of New Orleans reported that it did 42.061 TEU in July, which is 16 % increased compared to last year. Breakbulk’s tonnage increased 17 % and reached 80,515 tons.
A spokesman for Kimberly Cort said: Copper imports – both fractures and containers – have been the main driver of this year’s growth.
Top exports include plastic resins, chemicals and synthetic rubber. Imports were imported by chemicals, coffee, wood products, heavy machinery and equipment. Natural steel and tires topped the list of Breakbulk goods.
Corpus Christi crude oil exports
The Corpus Christi port registered 16.4 million tonnes of transportation in July, down 8 % compared to last year. Crude oil exports fell 13 % to 9.4 million tons, while raw imports fell by 28 % to 532.319 tons.
Oil cargoes rose from 8 % to 5.5 million tonnes, and dry bulk cargoes increased by 14 % to 617.230 tons. However, chemical bulk cargo has decreased by 12 % to 239,783 tons and 60 % bulk grain cargo was reduced to 108,603 tons.
The port made 418 freight calls in July, up 4 % compared to last year, while ship contacts decreased by 9 % to 187.
