If the private key matches the public key, the holder can:
- Update the document (by adding, never overwriting)
- Pass it on to someone else
- Invalidate it if necessary

The delivery of a digital original is as real as the delivery of a paper copy
One of the most powerful aspects of trace:original is how transmission works. Just like handing over an original paper, it makes the new holder the known legal controller while the previous holder relinquishes control via encrypted transfer, backed by a verifiable entry displayed in the ledger that represents the new holder’s public key.

The new owner must get the latest version of the file and keep the private key to control it.
